Sessions and time of day
You will learn to
- Know the three main sessions in crypto
- Use session highs and lows
- Avoid the quietest hours for breakout trades
Crypto never closes, but people sleep
Bitcoin trades 24/7, yet activity follows the world's working hours. Three sessions shape the day (times in UTC, approximate):
| Session | UTC | Typical behaviour |
|---|---|---|
| Asia | 00:00–08:00 | Quieter, ranges; sets the "Asia high/low" |
| London | 07:00–16:00 | Volume picks up; often runs the Asia high or low |
| New York | 13:00–22:00 | Highest volume, US data releases at 12:30–14:00, US stock open 13:30/14:30 |
Using it
- The Asia high and low (ASIA H / ASIA L on the chart) are frequent targets for London's first move — liquidity again.
- Breakouts during the quietest hours fail more often; weekends are thinner too.
- US economic releases cause sudden moves; NexusCore's calendar chip warns 30 minutes before high-impact ones.
Chart settings (the gear) can draw session breaks and switch the chart's time zone; the SESSION item in the footer shows the current one.
